NOPSI Hotel Wedding | Real Weddings

Linda + Chris had a fabulous New Orleans wedding which began with a traditional Catholic ceremony at St. Patrickl‘s Church. New Orleans is lucky to have a variety of unique event spaces. Couples have more than just a typical hotel ballroom as an option. But what to do when you want an unusual space and the ease of having hotel rooms nearby? There is one hotel in town whose ballroom feels very un-hotel like: NOPSI Hotel’s Dryades Ballroom has lots of large windows, floor to ceiling brick walls and is elegantly industrial.

Chris + Linda’s criteria was exactly this. They wanted a cool space but it was just as important for it to be in a hotel. There were several elderly guests that had to have easy access between the reception and their hotel room. NOPSI fit their needs beautifully.

Once the venues were determined the bride had one other request: purple. Purple is her favorite color so purple was integrated into the design. Doris Ione created gorgeous floral arrangements that tastefully incorporated purple and Luminous Events brought in heaps of candles to illuminate the space. Navy blue linens topped the tables, platinum chairs paired with the tables, Royal Cakery baked a phenomenal five-layer cake, trees lined the long foyer leading into the the ballroom, guests indulged in raw oysters, ahi tuna, crawfish beignets and shrimp + grits.

Dat Band provided the entertainment for the evening. Not only did they get everyone on the dance floor at the reception but they also second lined everyone from St.Patrick’s to NOPSI. The couples young nephew showed off his horn blowing skills as the band invited him to play with them during the second line.

And in true “only in New Orleans” fashion, a local character who is often seen dancing around the French Quarter was on our second line route: the Saints Darth Vader! If you’re local or spend a lot of time here you know who I’m talking about. The bride and groom were so excited they stopped to get a photo and the bride yelled over at me “Did you do this?!” All I did was create a fun, quintessentially New Orleans moment that allowed the spontaneous to happen!
