Meet Mary Spera
I was raised in Philadelphia and spent my teenage years in Kansas City. College lured me to New Orleans, where I eventually fell in love and married a native New Orleanian. Now my kids are natives, and New Orleans is home.
Prior to launching my own company, I spent 10 years designing, planning and managing corporate events for the NFL, Microsoft, Visa, Volkswagen, Samsung, AT&T and other clients. The vast majority of these events took place in cities across the United States, as well as in Beijing and London. I am an expert on New Orleans, but I am also comfortable staging events in other cities.
New Orleans, both in its historic French Quarter and beyond, offers unlimited possibilities for unique celebrations, from elegant receptions to boisterous second-line parades. I combine world-class musicians, historic venues and sumptuous cuisine to create one-of-a-kind, distinctly New Orleans events that are unforgettable!
From Corporate Event Planner To Wedding Planner
When I was a corporate event manager, I swore I would never do weddings. Ever. I thought it would be too much drama and too emotional. But the opportunity to plan weddings kept popping up. A wedding planner/friend referred a wedding to me. Two friends asked if I would plan their weddings. Because I no longer wanted to travel as much as corporate event planning demanded, I decided to try my hand at weddings. Well, I love it! And as referrals started rolling in, I realized most of my presumptions about wedding planning were wrong. It is a pleasure to help orchestrate such an exciting and important day, and my clients often become good friends.
I work with a select number of brides and grooms per year, which allows me to provide personalized, exceptional service to each and every one. My years in corporate event planning prepared me for the pressures and the curve balls that inevitably pop up – including having to work around a hurricane or two!
